As of this morning I weigh 219 – down from 230 8 days ago. I’ve been pondering this system since I began. A friend emailed me and asked why is it working for you?
Why it is TSFL working? Here are a bunch of my thoughts kinda thrown out there:
It is a combination of many things, but I would say it is having a
Service Model pre-built for me that I can step into and having a coach
to help me. I have to bring my purpose, vision, mission, and values.
TSFL provides a plan, people, process, and delivers on the performance.
I was not happy with myself regarding my weight. My fat suit was
too much a part of me for my own good and integrity. I finally
admitted some time ago that I might have understood good and bad foods,
but I didn’t have a clue about how to make it work in my life. I
needed a brainless, simple 1-2-3 approach that would get me on the
right track and I needed a personal commitment to stick to it. I found
this experience to be one of facing me – why do I eat far too much out
of comfort and habit?
For years I’ve questioned my integrity and self – control. In fact,
I was misguided. With the program and the web site TSFL presents a
very predictable process.
I LOVE the Life in Motion web site. I have learned so much from
digging around on it. I like being able to track my progress, enter
my exercise, and see how the calories are being burned and consumed.
Perhaps it is a guy thing. It is like having a scorecard in golf
except here the mulligans count because you put it in your body.
Thanks to the web site – which I think I will use for a very long
time – I have much greater control and understanding of what I’m
taking in and the benefits of exercise. I’ve learned to be more
calorie aware
because so much information is there. For example,
Did you know that two minutes of sex burns 3 to 5 total calories
depending upon how vigorous it is? Man, no wonder guys get pot
bellies! I learned that
on the web site! I’ve set a goal of four
minutes to double my burn rate. Perhaps, I’ll even get to eight
minutes someday. Too much information!
A plan for eating – the 5 – 1 plan with planned meals and times is
huge. I’ve ever had a plan for eating. I ate what I wanted when I
wanted. Now I have an alternative that aligns with my goals. Before
this I had nothing. No plan – no results. I didn’t eat breakfast, I
sometimes skipped lunch, then I would eat a big dinner and snack while
watching tv or writing on my laptop. Do I wonder why I was a spud?
Lori helped me set a more aggressive goal. Her push to 40 pounds
instead of 30 was the right push – ten more pounds actually encouraged
me a lot because 190 was what I wanted, but just couldn’t believe that
was
possible without chemotherapy or some other illness. I like knowing
there is someone there who can answer questions that might otherwise
hang me up. Generally, I’m a responsible man, so accountability isn’t
needed, but it helps. I don’t want to disappoint Lori and I like
having someone who understands what I’m going through – I’m the only
person on the plan I know – and she can tell me what to expect.
Day one I programmed my laptop to alert me at 7 – 10 – 1 – 4 – 7 –
10 when it is time to eat. This has been very helpful to get time
messages. Fifteen minutes ahead of my scheduled feeding, it alerts me
with a message and tone.
This morning I was thinking about it – TSFL is actually a free, if
not even a money saving program. I can tell you right now I will be
spending less money this month eating food. At just less than $10 /
day for five on my daily meals, this program is saving me money
compared to going out for lunches, dinners, pizza, snacks, soft drinks,
candies, snacks, etc…
So the Service Model is all there for me to bring my motivation. I
can see where I’ve learned a new, sensible, workable plan of fueling my
body that helps me be
I bring my purpose to this and TSFL provides the:
Plan – goals set with coach, vision of life thin again
People – Coach
Process – 5 -1, Foods, Web Site, Science
Performance – this is up to me again to drink water, exercise and eat
right.
The only draw back is the food itself appears to be processed
with nasty sounding chemicals and such. I wonder what I’m
putting in my body. For now, the weight loss will do more me good than
the potential harm
from stuff I was putting in my body already. On the other hand, I’m
not an
organic purest. If I ever looked at the ingredients on
the snacks, drinks, and other food I ate, it would read the same or
worse I’m sure. I’ve picked my battle which is to lose weight.
Finally, I’m finding a pattern to my eating that works for me.
Oatmeal in the morning. Shake in the mid-morn, soup at lunch, bar in
the afternoon, Lean and Green meal for dinner, and pudding at night.
Of course I vary this but it works like this many days. Also, I always
suck down an 8 oz glass of water with each meal so I only need two more
glasses of H2O to reach the basic water intake.
Wow! This Take Shape For Life works!
