When your heart, your head, and your hands are aligned within the highest values; then, you are on-purpose!
On one hand, being On-Purpose is a difficult and trying state to build into one's life. On the other hand, once one is on-purpose, nothing is more natural, comfortable, or meaningful. The good news is that being on-purpose has many of the qualities of a skill. It can be taught, learned, and improved upon over time. The bad news is most people are confused about what it means to be on-purpose. It is like having a 3000-piece jigsaw puzzle to assemble and someone has handed you the wrong picture box top. By the time you realize you've been building the wrong puzzle, much of life seems to have passed us by. But that is wrong thinking. In fact, the "lost days/years" are redeemed when you are on-purpose. Despite having worked on the wrong picture, remarkable skills have been honed and developed. You will see that it prepared you to be on-purpose.
Perhaps your heart is longing for something, yet the picture isn't in your head, so your hands are busy working on the wrong things. Maybe you have a dream but don't know what to do next. Perhaps you are just so overloaded and overworked that you think, Who has time for dreams and passion… I have bills to pay.
Take heart! Passionately pursue the peace of being on-purpose. The attempt to construct an on-purpose life needs to yield to living life committed to one's purpose. Interestingly, the construction proceeds more readily. It is first an inside job. Now that should get you thinking.
