Think of these posts as a series of picture postcards. Each is your personal invitation into the adventurous revelation of who you are, how you were created, and why you have your being – a step into new life territory. Purpose is more than a word; it’s an amazing gift. Take, open, embrace, and share your gift. Before too long, it won’t be about you anymore and you’ll know whom it really is about. I won’t be presumptuous about your purpose or how to live. Drawing your own conclusions is the true joy of the transformation ahead.

Meeting Brian Biro – America’s Breakthrough Coach
Asheville, NC – May 16, 2008
One of the great joys of being a best selling author and professional speaker is the other best selling authors and speakers one gets to meet. Friday, I once again had this joy with a man who all about having a Joyful Spirit – the title of one of his books.
Brian Biro is America’s Breakthrough Coach – a true On-Purpose Person. A guy with a joyful heart and a sharing spirit. Allow me to put a blatant plug in for Brian to any readers looking for a speaker. Brian truly is a coach, motivational speaker, and, most importantly, the genuine article. Here’s a guy who gets people on their feet in a greater belief in their true selves and possibilities.
Brian Biro’s first book, Beyond Success, provides an in depth look and understanding into "The 15 Secrets of Effective Leadership and Life" through the eyes of former UCLA basketball coach, John Wooden. Coach Wooden is unarguably the greatest college basketball coach of all time, yet the titles were incidental to his goal of developing boys into men. While coaching swimming at UCLA, Brian and Coach Wooden formed a friendship so this book is truly a personal account rather than the distance of a journalist. Read it and learn.

Blessed are the Profit-Makers
Blessed are the profit-makers, for they shall enrich the earth.
Amazing!
OK, so I decided at the beginning of April to start the TSFL program to learn how to eat as an adult. Facts are my diet really hasn't changed that much since I was a teenager. I love my pizza and ice cream. How many more areas of my life am also making decisions like when I was a teen? Hmmm! Topic for another day.

Since April 3, I've lost 25 pounds. That's the great news. The bad news is this morning I'm to introduce Dr. Sandy Shugart, the President of Valencia Community College, as the Campaign Walk Chair for the Light The Night Event with the CFL Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I'm on the board and Sandy I are friends. Normally, it's a delightful honor to introduce a friend and dynamic leader like Sandy.
Except for one thing…
On-Purpose Person Workshop
OK, so you read The On-Purpose Person and promised yourself you would go back and work the process, but you didn’t. Right? Perhaps you got started but never finished or felt fully satisfied with your progress or purpose statement. If you’re still pondering how you are making a difference or is your life meaningful, then come. There is nothing in the world like this program to help you make rapid and intense progress on being on-purpose.
Put your good intentions into place. June 20, here in Orlando, I’ll personally lead this tried and true workshop based on The On-Purpose Person. Come expecting great things. Demand that you get it from me. I want you to walk out of there blown away with the possibilities and potential of your life. Most of all you will be on-purpose!

Podcast Interview with Kevin W. McCarthy

This is a link to a podcast interview with the "non-guru" of personal development, Greg Voisen. Our interview took place on August 3, 2007 and focused on purpose for life and work.
From Greg Voisen, "Fifteen years ago my life was certainly not balanced. I was constantly
working and was not paying attention to my health or my family. I was
on a collision course and headed toward self destruction. I was in
tremendous personal pain and really did not know where to go or who to
turn too."

Trimming Down
Week 5 on Take Shape For Life has been a challenging one. Still, I am down to 207 – two pounds for the week – twenty-three pounds in five weeks.
My feeding schedule has been all out of whack this week so I've ended up skipping some MediFast/TSFL meals – a no-no that threatens my "fat burning" stage. Dinner at the Outback last night with some friends visiting from out of town and Mother's Day out to dinner this Sunday will add to the challenge. I'm learning to manage my restaurant eating to conform to the Lean and Green approach.
I found two pair of old pants in my closet that fit me – baggy. I'm holding off going clothes shopping until I get to my goal of 190. Then again, I don't want to look like a hobo in someone else's oversized pants… but there is a certain satisfaction in gathering my size 38 pants at the waist when I used to fill the size 40s.
